Ziggy’s Pizza to open new location in Manhattan, replacing Parkside Station

Restaurant co-founder cites deep Manhattan, K-State roots as reason for expansion.

Wichita-based pizza and sandwich pub Ziggy’s Pizza is opening a new Manhattan location, the restaurant announced in a press release Friday. 

The new location is Ziggy’s first outside of the Wichita area and will sit across from City Park at 1026 Poyntz Ave, replacing Manhattan-based restaurant Parkside Station, which announced its closure in February. According to the press release, the new Manhattan restaurant will offer the same menu as its Wichita locations, as well as a full-service bar.

Co-founder Jamie Verbeckmoes, one of two brothers who founded Ziggy’s in 2012, wrote in the press release that the expansion is one rooted in a connection to the Little Apple.

“Manhattan has always held a special place in our family’s heart. … Between our K-State roots, our employees who attend the university, and our family members who proudly call Manhattan home, we’ve always felt connected to this city. We’re honored to bring Ziggy’s to Manhattan and look forward to serving a community we’ve admired and supported for a long time.”

The restaurant also announced that two Kansas State alumni who are current general managers at existing Wichita locations will co-manage the new location.
