National Voter Registration Day: How to Register to Vote in Kansas

Today, on National Voter Registration Day, 91.9 is helping highlight the importance of ensuring every eligible citizen is registered to vote. In Kansas, the process is straightforward and accessible through various methods.

Here’s how you can register to vote in Kansas:

Online Registration

If you have a valid Kansas driver's license or non-driver's identification card, you can register to vote online. This convenient method is available through the Kansas Secretary of State's website and other affiliated platforms like the Kansas Department of Revenue's voter registration site.

Mail Registration

For those without a Kansas driver's license or non-driver's ID, you can register by mail using the National Mail Voter Registration Form. Fill out the form, print, sign, and mail it to your county election office. The form must be postmarked at least 21 days before any election to be eligible to vote.

In-Person Registration

You can also register in person at your local county election office. For example, in Riley County, you can visit the Riley County Clerk's Office 110 Courthouse Plaza

Manhattan, KS 66502.

Requirements

To register to vote in Kansas, you must:

- Be a U.S. citizen

- Be a resident of Kansas

- Be at least 18 years old by the next election

- Have received final discharge from imprisonment, parole, or conditional release if convicted of a felony.

Checking Your Registration

To confirm your voter registration status, you can use the VoterView service provided by the Kansas Secretary of State. This tool allows you to check your address, party affiliation, mail-in ballot status, and polling place locations.

Deadlines

Voter registration closes 21 days before any election. For the November 5, 2024, general election, you must register by October 15, 2024, to be eligible to vote.
