The Kansas State Women’s Basketball team took on the Cowgirls of Oklahoma State Tuesday evening in the yearly “Play4Kay” game.
Kansas State quickly jumped to a 6-0 lead and played the first half dominantly. The ‘Cats played dominantly on not just defense but the offense as well. They were forcing Oklahoma State to turn over the ball through traveling, shot clock violations, and poor shots.
Oklahoma State went 0-8 from 3 in the first 2 quarters and were missing key free throws. Kansas State would hold on to a 29-18 lead at the half and try to carry that momentum into the second.
They did exactly that until about the beginning of the fourth quarter, when Oklahoma State went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 54. The ‘Cats would quickly regain their lead after multiple big stops on defense and quick, easy baskets on the other end. This would lead to K-State taking control of the game for the remainder of the time, not giving Oklahoma State any opportunities to make their way back into the game.
The Kansas State Women’s Basketball team now improves to 14-12 (7-6 in Big 12), as they now travel to Ames this weekend to take on the Iowa State Cyclones. They’re hoping to carry this momentum into the next couple of games and pick up some statement wins.
