Wildcats Fall Short Against Arizona State & Move to 7-3 and 0-2 in Big 12 Conference Play


Kansas State loses yet again at home against the Ranked #8 Arizona State University. Previously, losing to Arizona University just days before the wildcats struggled to gain momentum and The Sun Devils dominated from start to finish, sweeping the Wildcats 3-0 (25-19, 25-20, 25-19) and showcasing why they’re one of the top teams in the nation.


Right from the beginning the Sun Devils took control of momentum and outperformed the wildcats with 13 kills with a clip average of .323 Pct. While the Wildcats had 14 kills but with multiple errors totaling their clip average to .139 Pct. The first set was led by Noemie Glover that had back-to-back kills to start the game giving Arizona State a 3-0 lead. They traded Rally’s back and forth until set point where Ella Lomigora blocked Aniya Clinton to close out set one.


In the second set we see a closer game where the Wildcats keeps it at 21- 20 down by one until service error happens for Symone Sims. Brynn Covell then went on to ace the wildcats and then Arizona State’s star Noemie Glover ended the set with back-to-back kills.


Down 0-2 in the sets the Wildcats have a chance to keep playing in the 3 set. As the night went on so did Shaylee Myers performance go, she played her best game of the night with 11 kills although she had 9 errors with 37 total attempts, which led to a not so pretty clip average of .054 Pct. In the start of the third set the Wildcats led 10-4. That is until the Sund Devils rallied behind Noemie Glover and Ella Lomigora with a combined 20 kills and 9 blocks. JJ Van Niel’s team improves to 11-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference while also staying undefeated against unranked teams and intend to keep their run against Utah University.


Jason Mansfield and the K-State Wildcats are now 10-3 and 0-2 in the conference. They play West Virgina University in WVU Coliseum, where the Mountaineers are 12-1 overall and are 0-1 in Big 12 conference play. The Wildcats look to bounce back on Wednesday at 6 pm against the West Virgina Mountaineers to keep in the race for the Big 12 Conference Title.
