In a lively episode of the SGA Weekly Update, host Jimmy Coffman sat down with Student Review Board Chair Gabrielle Guillen and Judicial Branch member Danica Sheve to unpack their paths to K-State, SGA involvement, and the power of student engagement.
Guillen, a political science major from nearby Abilene, KS, credited family ties—especially her die-hard K-State grandpa —and the university's strong programs for her choice.
Sheve, a lifelong Wildcat whose parents met on campus, was drawn by game-day traditions and a pre-law pipeline to KU Law. Both shared hilarious family rivalries involving KU and Missouri gear, highlighting Kansas sports passions.
Their SGA journeys? Guillen spotted a dorm flyer; Sheve networked through Pre-Law Ambassadors. Now pursuing law school, they emphasized the judicial branch's empathetic approach—application-based, not elected—and its role in fostering connections and campus improvements like better AC in Calvin Hall.
As elections rage on Canvas, the duo urged voting by 11:59 p.m., selecting strong successors like new AG Samantha Bonafis, and broader involvement: "The more you put in, the more you get out."
