Local DJ and Community Organizer Papa Dom appeared this past week on Wildcat 91.9’s radio show “The Evening Drive” and sat down with hosts Annalise Angell and Derek Foster. Papa Dom is a “vibe curator” who’s been DJ’ing since 2009, being everything from a DJ for music legend Afroman to DJing at festivals all the way in California. He has been recently performing with his collective “CTRL or Control The Rave Life,” who was present at their previous event this past February, “L.U.F. or Love Urself First.”

Dom and his collective are gearing up for their second event installment, known as “GRACE.” It is taking place Saturday, April 4th. It will be running from 6pm–11:45pm at Manhattan Brewing Company on the Brew Deck. It will have a variety of DJ’s, artists, and more. This will also be the debut of Calvin Ice, who is a 11 year old DJ, which is exciting in itself. Other DJs performing there include KAOS, Fantishow, and LOCKGROOVE.

When asked about what the idea was going into this event, in comparison to the previous (L.U.F.), Dom spoke to them making some improvements and a slight change in vibes. He said, “This one, I feel like it's just a vital part of the year. We're like, you know, almost midway through 2026. A lot's happening. Yeah. And all we got to do is just, hey, deep breath. Deep breath. Take a breath. Just understand. Tomorrow's going to be there. Yesterday already happened. All you have to worry about is now.”

Dom also spoke about his reason for these events, in which he told The Evening Drive, “Dancing is one of the oldest forms of medicine. You dance to release, and that's what we do. We have so much ruckus going on in the world right now. And I don't think we do a lot with our own communities, all the space that we have. Every space we have that has some sort of place you can stand is a dance floor waiting to happen. And that's my goal this year is to curate dance floors where there are none. And even if it's the first of its kind and playing music that is not your normal, where you can just sweat and dance it out.” Bringing together the community in a time that the world needs it and creating a positive atmosphere.

Tickets are currently still available online (https://www.tickettailor.com/events/ctrlks/2094021), and there will be a small amount available at the door on the day of the event.
