College radio isn’t just about music—it’s a community, a platform, and a place to share your
voice.
Wildcat 91.9 has been a staple at Kansas State University for over 75 years, giving students
hands-on experience in broadcasting and media. The station is entirely run by K-State students
who are eager to build skills for their future careers. Wildcat 91.9 features popular music
alongside unique shows each week, ranging from movie reviews and sports talk to creative
weekly specials.
In addition to live programming, the station produces promotional spots, advertisements, and underwriting announcements, giving students a full picture of how a radio station operates. Most importantly, Wildcat 91.9 is a space where students can explore their creativity, experiment with new ideas, and share their voices—making it truly feel like a home for the campus community.
Annalise Angell, a co-host of both The Morning Mix-up and The Evening Drive, shared about
her personal experience and how she originally joined the station. “I just thought it would be something fun to fill my time with now that I am not as busy studying,” Angell said.
The radio station offers growth in many areas. Angell said being on air has helped her step
outside of her comfort zone.
“I honestly really enjoy just being able to sit and talk with people, and my stage fright doesn't
come out when I‘m on air, so that's a good benefit, ” Angell added. “It is really just getting to do something new that I really never saw in my future.”
Students at K-State should join the station because it offers something unique that students
might not find anywhere else on campus.
“I think it is a good opportunity for people to either get their own message out there, to spread
joy — which is what I try to do on the evening drive,” Angell said.
“If you are in any major, if you want to have a show that tailors to you and your likes, I know
People do sports, I know people just talk — we just talk in the mornings — you can make it
whatever you want it to be, and have your message out there.
”It seems college radio is more than just sound waves; it’s a place where students can grow,
connect, and ultimately find their voice on Wildcat 91.9, you belong.
