SGA Weekly Update: Student Senate Leaders Rudd & Freeman on New Term Transition

On this week's SGA Weekly Update on Wildcat 91.9, host Jimmy Coffman

welcomed Speaker of the Student Senate Carson Rudd and Speaker Pro Tempore Emily Freeman for an inside look at the 2026-27 SGA administration, now three weeks in with a 50% freshman Senate.

Fresh off predecessors Evelynn Ediger and Andrew Lee—"our wings in the free fall," per the

duo—Rudd presides over Thursday meetings, liaises with the Faculty Senate and mentors via connections from his FFA days. Freeman takes minutes, edits legislation for the massive Teams archive and leads caucuses toward town halls.

As out-of-staters from Indiana and NW Arkansas, they credit FFA/speech & debate for their drive to serve others. From Biebercella, to Midwestern identity quirks to Mario Kart plugs, this episode of the SGA Weekly Update is a mix of policy and fun.
