The local Manhattan band, Woodridge, has been a strong force in the local music scene. Their
folk-infused rock has gotten them shows at Yard Bar, Full Circle, and Auntie Mae’s, to name
a few.
Their debut album has been getting positive reviews from their fans, but their work is just getting started. With their second album underway and the majority of their new songs already written and even performed at their live shows, they are grinding hard to get some fresh sounds out to the public. With demos being recorded in the bassist, Joey Castaldi’s garage, all that’s left to do is get into a professional studio, which they hope to achieve in early 2026.
The band is enthusiastic about what this new album will bring to the table, with the drummer,
Ben Rogers, describing it as “sleek”. The guitarist, Paul Hartman, expresses how they have
grown as a band and how that can be heard in their new sound. The frontman, Justin Castaldi,
describes the anticipated album as more “full” and less “punky” than the first, comparing it to the
sounds of the much-beloved Coldplay.
Justin, who also writes the lyrics to all the songs, sees a lyrical evolution in this upcoming album
as well. While both albums express the anxieties and frustrations of relationships, Justin sees
this new project as a narrative of growth and hope with “more substance” than his debut.
The band hopes to see the second album released around January 2026.
Their next live performance will be at Johnny Kaw’s Yard Bar for the Manhappenin’ Magazine release party on November 6th from 7-9 p.m., where 18 and up are welcome before 9 pm.
