Album Review: You'll Be Alright, Kid

Alex Warren wears a pinstripe suit and lies on lush green grass, looking relaxed and contemplative.

Alex Warren’s new album, You’ll Be Alright, Kid, has a perfect bit of everything. While Alex is popular online for his heartbreaking songs, don't think that is all you’ll be getting with this. His message is read straight from the album’s name, You’ll be alright. He pours different emotions and vibes into each song on this album, so you can cry to one song and be jumping and dancing to the next.

The first song featured on this album is Eternity. This tearjerker of a song is about the grief and pain that comes from losing someone close.

Alex has stated that this song is about the loss of his parents, but it also resonates with any kind of loss. This song is what made me download the album, and it’s only the first track.

My favorite song on the album is First Time On Earth. This song resonated with me as someone who forgets that the people around them don't know what they're doing all the time, either. It's a song that reads like a child speaking to a parent who did their best. It's an emotional song that doesn't feel sad, but instead like a ballad of forgiveness.

Another song that I can't get outta my head is Getaway Car. It's probably one of the most upbeat songs on the album, and it makes me wanna jump, dance, and scream the lyrics whenever I'm listening to it. The song has an infectious energy that makes you nod your head and pretend it's the song you're listening to if you were a getaway driver.

There are so many other good songs that it's hard to highlight just one, but if I had to pick, it would be Ordinary for me. This song debuted last year, and it's just incredible. He wrote the song about the love he shares with his wife, and it touches the heart without trying.

All in all, I can't recommend this album enough. I’ve had it on repeat since it dropped. It shows Alex Warren’s range while also handing over his greatest hits. This is an album that will stay in my drive-home rotation for months, if not years, because of how much I love these songs.
