Album Review: Don’t Get Lost, Social Cinema

I was introduced to this incredible band from Wichita through this very own radio station’s music festival, "Frog Wizard Fest" 2 years ago. When I saw them perform, I was in shock with their utmost talent and skill when it came to their music.

Which led to me doing a deep-dive on their catalog and I was shocked to find out, they had put out several short EPs but no full length album. And as a fan, I eagerly anticipated when that day would come that they would release that debut album. That day turned out to be Thursday, October 2nd, 2025, With this album, Don’t Get Lost.

Oftentimes, people get nervous when bands and artists begin to grow and start making steps forward. They fear their sound would shift and they’d change how they are as a band. This is not what happened with this album. All members of the group came together and put out 13 tracks of great music, and still found a way to keep that same sound that we love that they had in their earlier releases. The only major difference I spotted is that it sounds even better now.

What I love about Social Cinema is their fantastic songwriting combined with their instrumentation. It gives the sound like you’re listening to a young new indie band with the way their instruments are captured, but they have the writing ability way beyond their years. It’s captivating and catches you and makes you want to hear more. This album delivers on that very well. Songs like “You Want My Love” and the title track “Don’t Get Lost” still give me the vibes I got from when I was listening to the Collection of Singles they dropped in 2023 but almost like, this is the direct evolution from that sound because it sounds better now.

Social Cinema stands in a semi-circle under a dramatic spotlight against a backdrop of a peach-colored wall. Their casual yet stylish attire creates a moody and artistic atmosphere, with shadows adding depth to the scene.

What I loved on this album was the smoother, slower tempo songs. “Eloise” and “But you wouldn’t know”, although not sounding as faster paced as some of the other songs, really showcase the bands’ range. Which I think is great for them and their catalog. This is truly a band that does it all.

My favorite tracks were “Antidote” and “Deadly”. The vocals on the rhythm and instruments on Antidote are phenomenal and keep me pressing restart on the song again. Deadly, on the slower tempo sound, utilizes the guitars so well and works as a perfect closer to this project. They delivered, and checked all the boxes with this project. A great project for anybody who loves the indie and alternative sound that they do so well.

Many years of waiting has led to a phenomenal studio album for the local band, and I can’t wait for what they may do next.
