19-year-old Scammed. By Canadians.
Defying the stereotype that only the elderly get suckered into online scams, a 19-year-old Manhattan man was suckered out of over $9,500 by a Canadian company. The scam, one of those mystery shopper deals originating from a company calling itself Silverson Evaluations and Marketing Services, sent Joshua Drummond two fraudulent checks between the 21st and the 26th of this month, which he then cashed before sending the $9,500 to the company, whose address is in Canada. The incident is still under investigation.

Senate endorses bill increasing minimum age for driver's license
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) - The Kansas Senate gave first-round approval to a bill that raises the age for teen drivers. The bill increases the minimum age for a learner's permit from 14 to 15. For a restricted license, the minimum age would be 16 instead of 15 to 16. For an unrestricted license, it would increase to 16 ½ instead of 16. Farm permits would remain unchanged at age 14. The bill also bans anyone under age 18 from using a cell phone while driving. A final vote of approval is needed to send the measure to the House.
