The Wildcat’s men’s basketball season has begun, and this time with a new head coach. Former University of Illinois coach Bruce Weber made his Kansas State debut Tuesday night against the Washburn Ichabods. Washburn is ranked #4 in Division 2, but that didn’t scare the Wildcats in the least bit.
Kansas State had a powerful starting line up tonight with Angel Rodriguez 13, Will Spradling 55, Rodney McGruder 22, Adrian Diaz 20, and Jordan Henriques 21. The game began at 7:00 and Adrian Diaz started the game with a 2-0 lead. The cats never once lost their lead and were up 44-25 by halftime.
In the second half Washburn tried hard to take the lead from the cats but remained unsuccessful. It was clear the Ichabod’s and their top scorer number 10 Will McNeil wanted this win, but they were no match for our boys. With Jordan Henriques putting 13 points up and Nino Williams with 14, the cats were unstoppable. The Kansas State Wildcats ended the game with an 81 to 61 win over the Washburn Ichabods, a great way for Bruce Weber to show everyone that he is here to win. Hopefully we will see more games like this in our future and more Wildcat wins to come.
